Too bad one of Richard Hendrix's professors at Alabama won't ask him to write a paper about his summer vacation.
Too bad, because this could be the title: Played Hoops with Michael Jordan.
Earlier this month, and before returning for his sophomore season with the Crimson Tide, Hendrix traveled to Santa Barbara, Calif., with teammates Ron Steele and Jermareo Davidson to attend to the Michael Jordan Flight School.
"It was a great experience to go out with a couple of teammates and do a little skill development with the best coaches in the country," Hendrix said last week while spending some time at his parents' home in Athens.
Along with working as a youth counselor, Hendrix spent time developing a "go-to move" around the basket to make his game even better than in his freshman season. He averaged 9.4 points and 8 rebounds per game last season as the Tide made the NCAA Tournament second round.
The Alabama trio received invitations to the camp in part, Hendrix said, because Alabama is a Nike school and Jordan, of course, has long been a pitchman for the sneaker company.
