Alonzo Gee declares for NBA Draft

I'm surprised it took this long for him to do so. I think it's a good move by him to see what his value is, but I'm also thinking that him declaring this late is a sign he's leaving regardless. I'd leave too if someone overseas offered me $100K a year to play basketball.

Let's see. It seems like every piece of news that comes out of T'town is not good. Hell, I can't get fired up about Anthony Brock signing with us, which is truly sad.

Maybe we need a running pool. How soon do you think something positive will come out of the b'ball team, not counting the upcoming commencement, or practice starting, or the C&W game?

We could have a pretty awesome team if Steele, Gee and Hendrix all came back next year but it won't happen. I think Steele will be back, Hendrix will be content with being a late 2nd round pick and Gee won't get drafted but will probably be happy making money overseas.

It's a shame, Gee could've been an absolute star but he didn't have any coaching. If Steele stays and has a good year he could be a lottery pick. The three of them could all do each other favors by coming back. They'd all make each other better.

Gee has the athletic ability, but little basketball skills. He can't shoot and has a hard time finishing off drives.

IMO even if all 3 return we still have serious problems that need to be addressed like running an offense, FT shooting, perimeter shooting and defense... all which was lacking last season.

All of the things that you list were lacking last season, would be greatly improved with just Ron Steele back. I don't think there is any way Gee ends up going pro, but I could be wrong. Originally, I thought Hendrix was the only one we were in real trouble of losing.

However, with the signing of Brock, I'm wondering if Steele has indicated that the chances of him coming back are not so great afterall.
