Miss St hot shooting in the 2nd half downs Tide

A more competitive game than what I thought.
Box score

I missed the 2nd half of the 2nd half (final 10 minutes) so I can't comment on it. I can comment on the play of Mikhail Torrance. He was finally freed from the bench and played big time! I've been touting him every since the Tennessee game in 2007 where we lost in OT. Hopefully this solidifies him as a major contributor going forward. I said he should've started from the get-go, but that's another topic for another day.

Green also played a solid game with a double-double.

Sorry for the concise recap... not feeling all that great.

I agree!! If he doesn't play Torrance now then he is REALLY crazy. He should have been playing him at other times. I've been on his bandwagon for a while now too!! Overall good game, Miss State just hit 3's with the players in their faces. In the last 10 minutes, the tide definitely made a come back...

If Steele plays, then I think he will continue to run the point. But Torrance should be the first or second option off the bench going forward. If he doesn't get more playing time, then there is obviously something going on between him and the coaches.

For what it's worth, I thought Hollinger also played well tonight.

I listened to the game, didn't see it. We played well in the first half, but as usual, $tate made adjustments in the 2nd half, took the lead, and we couldn't stop the bleeding on the road. They stretched the lead out to 13 at one point, but we were able to cut it to 4 in the final minutes. Not surprisingly, 2 turnovers on inbounds plays in the final minute cost us any chance of winning the game.

I watched a chick flick with my wife last night. It was her birthday but she graciously agreed to interrupt the movie so I could listen to the final 4 or 5 minutes of the game. I was not surprised to hear us lose because we could not inbound the ball. My buddy Flash has been complaining about that (and our other laundry list of complaints) for the 5 or so years I have known him.

I'll give credit where it is due. CMG does have more people playing more defense for more minutes of the game than at any time since his Elite 8 run. The bad news is he still cannot coach an inbound play or teach players to hit free throws. I assume our half court offense was nonexistent again.

In last year's UT game Torrance was effective at driving and then either shooting with either hand or dishing the ball off. Is that what he did last night? If so, he might not be the second coming of Moe Williams. I seem to recall that opposing coaches watched film of the UT game and Torrance then became ineffective on offense for the rest of the season. I sure hope he does not repeat that pattern again. I would love to see him and the team do well.

Be patient everybody... I bet by year 13 we'll have an inbounds play that not only gets the ball in without a turnover, but one that might ACTUALLY lead to a score on the other end.

Now, now bobbyjack, let's not get ahead of ourselves! We'll never have an inbounds play that does that!
