Balanced attack demolishes Rattlers

Box score

We jumped on them early and never let up. The game was over 5 minutes into the 1st half. 76-37 is your final.

The good:
- held A&M to 23% FG and 2-21 from 3
- outrebounded A&M 55-37
- forced 15 turnovers and pulled in 12 steals.

The bad:
- Hillman turned it over too much.
- FT and 3pt shooting.

An unexpected blowout... which was nice. Some things for CAG to work on with the players for our next opponent (Troy). All I had was the radio broadcast so I can't break it down they way I'd like to.

Ben Eblen started over Chris Hines. I was told the reason for that is because Hines had a tooth pulled earlier in the day. When Hines came in, he got bumped in the face and appeared to be in a lot of pain. The fact that we opted to start an extra guard in his place instead of another big man should give you an idea of our depth problems in the post.

FAMU was a good matchup for us, in that they like to play a similiar style to us, but they don't have nearly as much talent to match up. The result is a laugher.

We did a better job defending the perimeter, FAMU got a few open shots but not too many. Anytime you hold a team to under 40 points, you are doing something right on D.

Charvez Davis returned and knocked down some badly needed 3's. He will be a key to our offensive success this year. We didn't run much halfcourt offense at all, I'm not sure the shot clock ever got below 10 on our end. We were consistently beating the Rattlers back down the court on every possession.

Hankerson played much better than he did in his previous games. He still looked a little tense and confused at times, but overall he played a good game, making some outside shots and even competently running the point for a few minutes in the second half. I am encouraged by his improvement thus far.

There was a pretty good crowd for it to be an early non-conference game. It being the Friday before a football game probably helped. The women's team beat Tennessee State in the first half of the double-header too.

The SEC is off to somewhat of a rough start. UNC-Ashville beat auburn in the first game at their new arena. Missishitty $tate struggled with Tennessee State. old piss struggled with Arkansas State. Georgia had their hands full with Mississippi Valley State.

Up next, the Troy Trojans come in for a 7pm tipoff Monday night.

Also, this was win number 1,500 all time for the program. We are the 32nd most winningest program in the country and 3rd in the SEC behind only Kentucky and Arkansas.
