Don't get me wrong, there are some tough matchups in the non-conference portion of the schedule (Paradise Jam, Purdue, Oklahoma State), but this appears to be a schedule built for some early wins in the hopes of securing a post season bid for a rebuilding program.
At first glance, I'll predict 18-12 overall (11-3 non-conference, 7-9 conference). A postseason birth (NIT or NCAA) is certainly possible.

Former Alabama star Mikhail Torrance, who suffered a heart attack Friday during a workout at the IMG Basketball Academy in Bradenton, Fla., began breathing on his own for the first time Wednesday after being taken off a ventilator.
A CT scan done late Tuesday also came back negative, adding to the recent optimism surrounding him.javascript:void(0)

BRADENTON, FLA -- Mikhail Torrance, former University of Alabama basketball star who recently signed a contract to play professionally in Israel, was rushed to a hospital after collapsing at the start of a workout today. He was unconscious while being rushed to nearby Blake Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, Fla.
Torrance was on the court at the IMG Basketball Academy. He has been transferred to the Intensive Care Unit at nearby Sarasota Memorial Hospital. A spokesperson said the hospital could not release any information on Torrance's condition. A spokesperson from IMG has not returned a phone message.
A source close to the family said that Torrance was in critical condition, breathing with the aid of a ventilator.
His parents are flying in from Birmingham on Friday night.

Dec. 4 in West Lafayette. This is the same Saturday as the SEC football championship game. I was looking forward to the Purdue trip, but assuming the football season goes as planned, it does not look like that will happen. So, we have road games for 3 straight Saturdays in December; @ Purdue; v. Oklahoma State in Oklahoma City; and @Providence.
It's that time of the year again, when schedules start trickling out ahead of ours and we keep an eye out for possible opponents. Another piece of the puzzle fell into place today, with the Providence Friars announcing their partial 2010-11 schedule. We owe them a return visit for their trip to Tuscaloosa last year, and we will be playing in Rhode Island on Saturday, Dec. 11, at 7 pm ET, 6 central.
The following weekend, Dec. 18, we are playing Oklahoma State in OK City, and we open up the Paradise Jam in the Virgin Islands against Seton Hall on Friday, Nov.19, in a tournament that includes possible matchups with Xavier, Iowa, Clemson, and/or Old Dominion. Presumably, we will also have a return trip to Purdue; this is shaping up to be a tough non-conference away schedule. I had originally planned on making the trip to Oklahoma City, but I've never been to Providence, so I may go up there instead. I doubt I can pull off both on back to back weekends.
