2k Sports Matchups announced

We play South Dakota State at 8pm on Friday, November 9, and West Alabama on Sunday November 11.  I think we definitely got the easiest schedule of the host teams.

DJC: I'm going to have to disagree somewhat with you. Yeah, West Alabama is a snoozer, but South Dakota State is arguably the best school that isn't automatically moving on to New York in this event. Those guys can play, man. They've got a couple of guys, Nate Wolters and Jordan Dykstra , that could play for a lot of BCS conference teams. They can shoot the hell out of the ball, they defend pretty well and they're very experienced (think the Cornell team that won in Coleman a few years ago). They gave Baylor hell in the NCAA Tourney. That's a tough game to play right off the bat in November. Our guys could easily lose that game. Damn.

Does the game against Div II, UWA, count at all in our win-loss record?

M, you are right, for some reason I was thinking SDSU lost more than they do. West Alabama almost automatically makes it the easiest schedule, but then you see N. New Mexico State and one other Division 2 team on there as well. One would think out of 300+ Division 1 teams they wouldn't have to stoop to this level.

DJC: You would think. I read today that even the Preseason NIT is having to select a D2 school to play in one of the pods for that event. That surprises me because that's still a bonafide "tournament", i.e., if a team wins, they are awarded a trip to NYC.

These Gazelle events obviously don't follow that guideline so I can understand why some schools would have no interest in taking part. After all, if your team doesn't have the opportunity to win and go to New York, what's the point? Akron won in Starkville in this event last year but had to watch State go to MSG and win two games. It makes no sense.

Lib: I believe the West Alabama game, since it is part of this event, does count in the win/loss record.
